ENV 201 Introduction to Geographic Information Systems 3 credits
In this course, students will gain a foundation in geographic information systems, including spatial data analysis and communication. Students who complete this course will have a “spatial analysis toolbox” that they can draw upon in experiences outside of the classroom, and outside of Misericordia, and apply to several fields. Students will learn cartography basics, coordinate systems, spatial analysis tools, data management and database queries, and how to work with vector and raster data. Students will gain a strong foundation in using popular GIS tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS, or others. This course counts as a Group B elective for the Environmental Studies major.
