ENG 200 Introduction to Literary Study


3 credits

This course serves as an introduction to the study of literature, with an emphasis on the skills and background needed to engage with texts as critics. The course will develop students’ close-reading skills in tandem with introducing them to literary theory and its application to texts. The course will advance students’ understanding of genre, including genre-specific terms and tools. At the end of this course, students will have the background and skills necessary to embark on a more advanced study of literature.
