WRT 250 The Study of Language
3 credits
An introduction to English linguistics. Approaches include both an overview of English language evolution and an analysis of English(es) from the perspective of structural linguistics. Topics may include linguistic change, etymology, and word formation; dialects and registers; semantics; syntax; and grammar Previously offered as ENG 318 and ENG 418. Students who previously completed ENG 318 or ENG 418 may only take WRT 250 for the purposes of grade replacement, and may not receive credit for either ENG 318 or ENG 418 and WRT 250.
