CRM 350 The Nature of Crime


3 credits

In this course, you will gain an in-depth knowledge of the correlates of crime. We will examine the extent and distribution of different correlates (i.e., associated factors) of crime, such as families, schools, neighborhoods, mental illness, substance abuse, race, class, and gender. We will assess each correlate of crime in terms of 1.) its relationship to crime, 2) theoretical explanations for this relationship, 3) methodological approach to studying the relationship, and 4) policy implications for addressing the relationship.
