CRM 225 Criminological Theory 3 credits
In this course, you will gain an in-depth understanding of criminological theories and crime causation. We will examine the underlying assumptions of the major criminological perspectives and how those assumptions constrain theoretical explanations. You will learn how each major theoretical perspective in criminology has evolved over time. We will evaluate criminological theories based on the underlying logic of the theory, the theory’s ability to be tested scientifically, and on empirical research findings.
