BIO 465 Paleontology 4 credits
Investigate the history of life on Earth through paleontology, the study of fossil organisms, their evolution, ecology, and paleoenvironments. Through analysis of fossils, geological records and processes, and the application of paleontological research techniques, students will reconstruct evolutionary pathways and comprehend the dynamic shifts in Earth’s landscapes through the lens of deep time. Lab consists of analyses of preservation patterns and geological mechanisms in the laboratory and field, including outdoor environments.
Lecture: 3 hours Laboratory: 3 hours
Prerequisite(s): BIO 202 or permission of instructor.
