NSG 633 Clinical Immersion for the Primary Care NP 4 credits
This clinical course serves as the culminating experience in the clinical preparation of primary care nurse practitioner students. Students will work with clinical preceptors to integrate and apply previously acquired knowledge and skills. This immersive clinical experience focuses on the demonstration of competency in the areas of management of client health/illness status; nurse-client relationship; teaching-coaching function; professional role; managing and negotiating the delivery of health care within a system; and monitoring and ensuring quality of health care practices. Independent clinical management of acute and chronic health problems under direct collaboration with clinical preceptors in this course is emphasized. The synthesis of practice management skills pertaining to economics, reimbursement for services, time management, and entry into advanced practice nursing is also stressed.
