PSY 240 Psychology and the Law


3 credits

This course examines the relationship between psychology and the American legal system. Students will gain an understanding of how psychology is applied in law enforcement, the judicial process and corrections.  Topics discussed will include criminal investigations, eyewitness and expert testimony, child witnesses, domestic abuse and child abuse, the role of mental health and substance abuse issues in court cases, sexual offenders, and family law issues surrounding divorce and child custody.
