NSG 685 Acute Clinical Management of Complex Health Conditions in Adults and Older Adults II 3 credits
In this course, students will build on the clinical skills and knowledge gained in NSG 683, with a focus on the care of adults and older adults in acute care settings. Emphasis will be placed on advancing students’ ability to perform rapid, complex assessments, diagnose critical conditions, and implement timely interventions for acutely ill patients. The course will prioritize patient-centered care, integrating current treatment guidelines and evidence-based practices, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. Students will also consider patients’ lived experiences and cultural backgrounds while collaborating with an interprofessional team to address social determinants of health. As students gain more independence, they will take a greater role in directing care and utilize teaching-coaching strategies to educate patients in the management of their conditions within the acute care setting.
