AIH 201 Creative Practices for Self-Care 3 credits
Caregivers dealing with the challenges of treating patients with physical, mental, and emotional conditions frequently experience significant stress, exhaustion, and depression. In this studio art course, students will engage in practical activities designed to enhance self-care and reduce these negative effects. Representative techniques include visual journaling, meditation and gratitude practices, printmaking, and mandala construction. Students will also have the opportunity to share their work with their peers and learn how to communicate their expressive response to enhance their overall well-being—techniques which can be carried forth into their professional lives. No previous experience in the arts is necessary.
