NSG 625 Adult Gerontology Primary Care Clinical I 2 credits
In this course, students will apply knowledge and skills from advanced physical examination and diagnostic reasoning, pathophysiology, and pharmacology in the care of adults and older adults in primary care. Focus will be on providing patient-centered care utilizing current treatment guidelines and evidence-based practices, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. Care provided will consider patient’s lived experiences and culture, in collaboration with an interprofessional team, to address social determinants of health. The student will direct patient care in collaboration with preceptor and utilize teaching-coaching strategies for patient education in the management of acute episodic illness and chronic diseases in adults and older adults within the primary care setting.
